Joey Essex Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to Late Uncle 'Big Greg'

Joey Essex has paid an emotional tribute to his uncle, known as 'Big Greg', following his death. The 35-year-old former TOWIE star took to Instagram to share a series of photos and videos with his father's brother, describing him as 'one of a kind' and 'a family man that anyone would dream of'.

In his post, Joey wrote: 'Big Greg, you was one of a kind. The best uncle to me and brother to my dad. A family man that anyone would dream of. We will all miss you so much. Rest in peace mate love you forever.' The tribute was met with an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities.

Big Greg, whose full name was Greg Essex, was an actor and porter at London's Billingsgate Market. He appeared in films such as Don Quixote (2000) and Seal and the City (2022). He also co-owned the restaurant Beluga Seafood and Grill in Billericay, Essex, with celebrity chef Dez Harkness, which opened in 2014 but closed in 2015 due to a leasing issue.

Joey's sister Frankie Essex also paid tribute, calling Greg 'a true Bermondsey boy' and a 'Millwall supporter through and through'. She wrote: 'Greg, your love for family and friends was the strongest there ever was. If someone was lucky enough to meet you, it felt like they'd known you their whole life.' She added that the family would ensure his wife, daughter and granddaughter are always looked after.

Former TOWIE star Tom Pearce commented: 'Love big Greg…what a character and lovely man he was! Always a great laugh to be around and a great uncle to you mate.' Singer Pixie Lott also sent her condolences, saying: 'Hope ur ok Joey sending lots of love.'
