Joe Sugg has warned fans not to fall for AI-generated images that falsely suggest his partner Dianne Buswell has given birth, clarifying that the Strictly Come Dancing star is still pregnant. The couple, who announced they were expecting their first child—a baby boy—in September, have been sharing updates directly with followers.
In a video posted on Instagram, Sugg revealed that many friends and family members had been duped by an AI photo depicting them with a newborn. 'I woke up this morning with loads of family and friends messaging me saying, “Oh, congrats on the news,”' he said. He pointed out that the image was not genuine, adding: 'That’s not me. That’s not Dianne, that’s not our baby.'
Buswell, 36, appeared in the video to confirm she is 'still very much pregnant'. Sugg, 34, captioned the post: 'I worry for the Facebook generation sometimes with all this AI malarkey.' Fellow Strictly stars, including Vito Coppola and Gorka Marquez, reacted with humour in the comments.
Sugg and Buswell met when paired together on Strictly in 2018. Earlier this year, they shared a glimpse of their baby boy’s nursery, which features a bookshelf made by Sugg’s late grandfather. Sugg also commented on the 'rushed' nature of their pregnancy announcement, comparing it to the departure of Strictly hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
