Jesy Nelson's Ex Zion Foster Admits 'I'm Out of My Depth' Over Twins' Health Battle
Jesy Nelson's Ex Zion Foster: 'I'm Out of My Depth' Over Twins

Jesy Nelson's ex-fiancé Zion Foster has admitted he felt completely "out of my depth" after the couple discovered their twin daughters had a life-threatening condition. The emotional confession features in Jesy's new Prime Video documentary Jesy Nelson: Life Changing, which follows the former Little Mix star and Zion as they navigate one of the toughest periods of their lives.

Rare Diagnosis for Twins

Daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA), the most severe form of the rare genetic condition. The series also reveals the devastating impact the diagnosis had on the couple's relationship, with Jesy confirming they have since split following their engagement.

Speaking candidly, Jesy said: "It's a very traumatic thing that we've both been through. I think it's quite inevitable for things like this to happen to couples. I don't think it's a shock that we've broken up. You'll either be a team or it'll tear you apart and unfortunately I feel that's what it's done to me and Zion."

No Bad Blood

The singer insists there is no bad blood between them, adding: "We still get on, there's not bad feeling. My main priority is them. I just want to be the best mum with the best energy and positivity possible. The house was not like that when we were together. We're both dealing with this situation completely differently, and together we were clashing. I decided we would be better off apart. It's hard. It's just me and mum now."

The documentary captures the moment the couple learn their daughters have SMA after an already traumatic pregnancy. Jesy announced she was expecting identical twins in January 2025 before later revealing the babies had developed twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a rare condition affecting twins who share a placenta.

Emergency Surgery and Premature Birth

She underwent emergency in-utero surgery before spending months under medical supervision, with Ocean Jade and Story Monroe eventually arriving prematurely in May. Jesy sobbed: "I really thought my hard days were over. I can't believe this is happening. I feel heartbroken and I feel like I'm going to be heartbroken for the rest of my life."

Meanwhile, Zion admits the enormity of the situation has left him struggling to cope. He said: "I'm not equipped to deal with this. I'm out of my depth; emotionally, physically and mentally. At the moment I'm surviving. I just need to get help."

United for the Twins

Jesy also reflects on watching Zion deal with the devastating news, saying: "I can tell he's really struggling. For a 26-year-old to have to now be put in this situation... I feel like I can see his life flashing before his eyes." Despite their relationship ending, the pair remain united in putting Ocean Jade and Story Monroe first as they continue their treatment, with Jesy admitting: "I think we're both thinking, 'how the f*** are we going to do this?' And we will because we have to. We don't have a choice. It's really f****** hard."
