Jessie J has shared the news of a miscarriage in a heartfelt Instagram post, describing the experience as a 'shock' and expressing 'overwhelming sadness'. The 33-year-old singer, known for hits like 'Price Tag' and 'Domino', revealed she had been pregnant after deciding to have a baby on her own.
In her post, she said: 'To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again. I'm still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be OK.' She disclosed that her third scan on Wednesday showed there was no longer a heartbeat.
Despite her loss, Jessie J performed a scheduled gig in Los Angeles that evening, explaining: 'I know singing tonight will help me'. She added: 'I want to be honest and true and not hide what I'm feeling. I deserve that.' The singer has previously spoken about fertility issues, having been diagnosed with adenomyosis in 2014, a condition that can increase the risk of miscarriage.
A wave of support followed from fellow musicians, including Paloma Faith, who shared her own experience of a miscarriage on a film set, and Pixie Lott, who sent love. Jessie J later thanked fans for their 'overwhelming instant outpour of love', saying it helped her get out of bed. She remains hopeful about future pregnancies, echoing her 2019 statement: 'I believe in miracles. I haven't given up.'
