Jeremy Clarkson to Grow a Car in New Clarkson's Farm Special
Jeremy Clarkson to Grow a Car in Farm Special

Jeremy Clarkson is set to return to his Top Gear roots in a one-off Clarkson's Farm special coming next year. Prime Video has revealed a brand-new special episode within the popular Clarkson's Farm world, with season six also coming next year. In the one-off instalment, entitled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special, Jeremy Clarkson returns to his Top Gear origins.

Growing a Car from Crops

Prime Video teased that the former Grand Tour presenter will draw upon his motoring expertise to attempt a global first, as he endeavours to cultivate and construct his own vehicle from crops produced at Diddly Squat Farm. The streaming platform revealed: "During his tenure as one of the country's most famous farmers, Jeremy Clarkson has tried to grow it all: wheat and barley, potatoes and mushrooms, even wasabi."

"But never before has he tried to grow something this ambitious. In fact, no one has. Growing a car is not for the faint-hearted." Jeremy has determined he'd rather create a vehicle himself than purchase one. Exasperated by contemporary motoring's "nanny-state technology", he's decided to construct his own vehicle from scratch.

The Jaguar F-Type Project

The foundation for his ambitious project will centre on the Jaguar F-Type V6S, a motor Jeremy believes "represents the sweet spot between analogue driving thrill and modern practicality". However, this is far from a conventional restoration. Alongside his bespoke Diddly Squat leather interior and wool carpets, he'll endeavour to cultivate flax fibre and transform it into an innovative and environmentally-friendly alternative to carbon fibre.

He won't be tackling the project solo, as legendary car designer Ian Callum CBE - the creative mind behind the original F-Type - will be assisting him. The standalone special will arrive on Prime Video globally next year, while series six of Clarkson's Farm will also debut in 2027.

Season Six Details

Clarkson has been candid about the future of his cherished farming programme, and in September he revealed filming had largely concluded. As for what fans can expect from season six, Clarkson said it would feature perhaps one of the biggest mistakes of his life. The Independent reported: "It might be this year when we had Cereals, a huge farming exhibition, I guess is the right word, at Diddly Squat."

"30,000 farmers came, and I decided to go and drill the barley in the field that they'd all have to drive by. Every single farmer in the country would drive past it, and I did the drilling, and I didn't level the drill. On a couple of occasions, I forgot to turn the fan on and apparently didn't drive in a straight line either."

The moment had occurred while the cast had been filming season six, with Cooper's emotional reaction playing out on camera. "You'll see this in season six, but Kaleb did a speech when he's almost in tears saying, 'I'm not from a farming background, lots of farmers don't think that I'm a proper farmer.

"You've completely messed this up, they're all going to think that I can't farm,' and it's one of the most heartfelt, tragic things you've ever seen," Clarkson shared. Another recent venture for Clarkson was appearing on the new season of The Grand Tour, in which he was seen offering some words of advice to the show's new hosts.

Speaking to the new hosts, Clarkson warned them: "Listen, guys. Seriously, have fun with this. Good luck. Don't f*** it up." He went on to tell the audience to trust the new hosts, sharing: "I've got to be honest with you, I've actually been watching what they've been up to for the past year and a half, and they're very, very good." Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special will air on Prime Video next year.
