Jennifer Lopez Calls Oscar Winner Nomadland 'Worst Type of Film'
Jennifer Lopez Slams Nomadland as 'Worst Type of Film'

Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez has stirred controversy by calling the Oscar-winning film Nomadland the 'worst type of film' for her personal taste. The 56-year-old singer and actress shared her candid thoughts during an appearance on the podcast Films to Be Buried With, hosted by Brett Goldstein, her co-star in the upcoming Netflix movie Office Romance.

Lopez's Honest Opinion on Nomadland

When asked about her least favorite film, Lopez did not hesitate: 'You can tell from my taste in movies about this, but Nomadland.' Acknowledging that her choice might be unpopular, she clarified that she found the film beautiful but ultimately not to her liking. 'It’s not why I go to the movies. I like musicals. I like romantic comedies. I like thrillers, you know? And it is a slow-moving thing about grief, and there’s no escapism to it,' she explained.

Lopez emphasized that her criticism was purely a matter of personal taste. 'It’s just a taste thing. I know we need movies about grief – I understand; I just don’t want to watch ‘em – the same way I don’t want to watch horror films. It’s just not for me,' she added.

Nomadland's Critical Acclaim

Directed by Chloé Zhao, Nomadland won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2021. The film follows a widow who leaves her life in Nevada to travel across America in a van. Despite Lopez's reservations, she praised the performance of lead actress Frances McDormand, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role. 'She's amazing - we all know that. There’s no surprise there. She deserves all the Oscars,' Lopez said.

Lopez's Views on Love and Romance

During the same podcast, Lopez, who recently split from husband Ben Affleck, spoke about her desire for a fairy-tale romance. Referring to the iconic film The Notebook, she said, 'I feel like it's what everybody in their mind really wants, is to have that type of connection with a person and to love someone that deeply that you just can't imagine your life without them.'

Lopez's latest film, Office Romance, is set to premiere on Netflix. The actress continues to balance her music and acting careers while raising her twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
