Jennifer Aniston's long-awaited arrival on Instagram caused the platform to crash on Tuesday, as fans rushed to follow the former social media recluse. Within an hour of signing up, her account attracted over 116,000 followers, and her first post garnered hundreds of thousands of likes before the site went down.
The post featured a selfie of Aniston with her former Friends co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. She captioned it: “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”
Aniston was welcomed by fellow actor Reese Witherspoon, who commented: “YASSSS!!! Welcome to Insta Jen!!!” She also followed actors including Adam Sandler and Justin Theroux, her former partner, and commented on a picture posted by Matt LeBlanc.
The 50-year-old actor was 25 when she took on the role of Rachel Green in the hit sitcom, which ran for 10 seasons and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. This month, Aniston dismissed the possibility of a Friends movie, saying producers would not want it.
