Former Premier League footballer Jermaine Jenas has posted a bizarre video on Instagram two years after being sacked by the BBC over inappropriate texts. The ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder had his contract terminated in August 2024 after sending inappropriate messages to two female employees.
Video and cryptic message
In the video shared to his 212,000 followers, Jenas is seen topless in his kitchen spinning a plate of white chocolate pancakes. The caption read: "My post-workout white chocolate pancakes on a Saturday morning are legendary. Have a great weekend people." A cryptic message at the start of the video stated: "I no longer care how the story gets told.. f*** you and them."
Fallout from scandal
Jenas later apologised for his "wildly inappropriate" and "self-destructive" behaviour, but his television career has been ruined. His 14-year marriage to Ellie Penfold ended last year, though he has now reportedly found love with French estate agent Anne Leplaideur. He admitted he has "lost everything".
Good Morning Britain interview
The video comes after a tense interview on ITV's Good Morning Britain last month. Jenas said: "It's been a tough two-year period, in particular [for] my family... I got to this point where I was like, 'I feel like I need to start speaking.' I've lost everything, essentially. My job, my family, everything was kind of taken away from me." He acknowledged his actions were wrong due to his position of power but added: "I'm not here begging for a job; I'm not here because I want to be back in television." When questioned further, he said: "If you feel like I've not been punished enough, then go ahead."
