Welsh presenter Jason Mohammad will feature on the upcoming series of BBC's Celebrity MasterChef. The 52-year-old from Cardiff will take part in the first week of intense cooking challenges, with hopes of progressing further in the competition.
The series brings together singers, sports stars, actors, authors, comedians, entertainers and presenters, all vying to be crowned Celebrity MasterChef 2026 Champion. The BBC has not yet announced an exact start date for its 21st series but said it is coming soon.
Reasons for Taking Part
Best known for presenting on BBC Radio Wales and BBC's Final Score, Jason described his decision to appear on the show. When asked why he took part, he said: "I love food and I'm passionate about feeding people. Some of my greatest memories in my life have been surrounded by food, especially after Ramadan. Tables full of food at Eid and feeding and eating with my fellow Muslims at my mosque during Eid celebrations. But also, very special Christmases and birthdays have been memorable because of the food we had. I take a lot of pride in feeding people. I love to see the joy in their faces once I have fed them. I also enjoy being fed."
Cooking Memories and Favourite Dishes
He explained that his earliest cooking memories were at home in Wales, where his grandparents would grow and cook fresh vegetables. Jason said: "My favourite food memory is picking potatoes, kidney beans, tomatoes and veg in my Grandad's big garden in Wales. Whenever my family would return from holidays, my grandmother would make Welsh new potatoes, roasted chicken, salad and lashings of salad cream."
Despite enjoying cooking a "mean Sunday dinner" or a "banging chicken curry" at home for his wife and kids, the presenter spends a lot of his time split between Cardiff and Salford where he presents Final Score. He said: "I split my time between Cardiff and Manchester, so I tend to eat out about twice a week at a Cantonese in Cardiff and a Pakistani in Manchester."
Fellow Contestants and Previous Season
Jason will feature in the first week alongside weightlifter and Olympic medallist Emily Campbell, Love Island star Shakira Khan, comedian, actor and author Joe Pasquale, and boyband member and Strictly winner Jay McGuiness.
Last year's season saw former Welsh rugby captain Alun Wyn Jones make it to the Celebrity MasterChef grand final. Unfortunately, he was beaten at the last hurdle by RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Ginger Johnson who ultimately won the 2025 edition of the competition show.
