Comedian Jason Manford has been forced to cancel and reschedule several dates on his stand-up tour after undergoing emergency surgery to remove his appendix. The 42-year-old shared the news on Facebook, posting a photo from his hospital bed wearing a gown and holding a cup of Vimto, joking that it is served in all Manchester hospitals.
Manford explained that he had a 'scary and extremely painful' 24 hours with sudden appendicitis. He wrote: 'My advice would be to not get Appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway! Seriously though, I’m gutted that I’ve had to move the dates this weekend.'
The affected shows include performances in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness, and at the Kendal Calling festival. Manford had hoped to manage with antibiotics and delay surgery, but doctors advised against it. He also had to cancel a planned family holiday to Portugal.
Ticket holders are advised to keep their tickets and will be contacted by venues or sellers with options to attend new dates or request refunds. Fans have flooded the comments with messages of support, wishing him a speedy recovery.
