Jason Lewis, best known for playing Smith Jerrod in Sex and the City, has returned to social media after a three-year absence, teasing a secret project in a cryptic Instagram video.
The 54-year-old actor posted the video on Thursday, showing him walking along an unidentified beach. In the caption, he wrote: “After three years, it was time.” In the video, Lewis explained: “Three years ago, I went quiet. Not because I had nothing to say, but because I had something to do. The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that.”
Lewis remained tight-lipped about the project, describing it as “the kind of work that needs to find its people.” He added: “I’m still in it. And I’m far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I’ve been doing. More to come.”
Fans and celebrities, including Selma Blair, celebrated his return. Blair commented: “Good to see you,” alongside a blue heart emoji. Another follower wrote: “Whatever you’re working on, I’m here for it!! Sending positivity and light.”
Lewis has not appeared on-screen since the final season of NBC’s Midnight, Texas in 2018. His last credited role was voicing Lance in the 2020 animated film Palm Swings. According to IMDb, his next project is Restaveks, directed by Ramses Jimenez, currently in post-production. It is unclear if this is the project he referenced.
