Jasmine Harman has issued a heartbreaking statement after a house hunter who appeared on A Place in the Sun is feared dead in brutal wildfires gripping Spain. The Channel 4 presenter expressed devastation and offered condolences to the victims and their families.
Annette and Malcolm Trimble's Dream Home Destroyed
Annette and Malcolm Trimble appeared on the hit property show in 2023, seeking their dream home in southern Spain. They found a property in Bédar, Almería region, for £215,746 and relocated from the UK. However, recent soaring temperatures triggered horrific wildfires that swept through their town.
Malcolm, 69, survived by staying in cars as flames passed, but Annette is believed to have run out past the firewall. She is now presumed dead, though no body has been found. Their home was completely destroyed by the fires that began on July 9.
Jasmine Harman's Instagram Tribute
Jasmine shared a statement on Instagram, saying: "Some awful news. You may have seen on the news that Spain has been experiencing some terrible wildfires, and I was so sad to hear of the tragic deaths of several people in Bédar. Sending deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Especially to Malcolm who previously appeared with his wife Annette on A Place in the Sun."
She added: "I don't really have the words to say how very sorry I am for your loss Malcolm. I know we have never met, I can't imagine what you are going through right now. Sending thoughts and prayers. RIP Annette and others."
Wildfires Spread at 20 km/h
Malcolm attempted to flee with friends, who abandoned their cars to escape on foot despite his pleas. They left, and he stayed between the cars until the fires passed. It was later revealed the flames traveled at 20 km per hour, meaning his friends "had no chance" of survival.
According to reports, the couple's appearance on A Place in the Sun aired in 2023, and they had settled into their new life in Bédar before the tragedy struck. Malcolm now faces rebuilding his life after losing both his home and his wife.
