Janette Manrara has declared that she's "letting it go" as she shared personal insights into her life and addressed a recent struggle with her husband, Aljaž Skorjanec. Janette is best known as a former Strictly Come Dancing professional, who later became a presenter on the BBC series' sister show, It Takes Two. She and Slovenian professional dancer Aljaž, with whom she shares daughter Lyra Rose, married in 2017.
Janette recently spoke about the family's big move to London and how she enjoys "getting rid of the old" and bringing in the "fresh and new", while reflecting on how quickly her daughter is growing. Her remarks emerged on an April 7 episode of the Sort Your Life Out podcast, in which she was asked whether she was currently "living out of boxes", but Janette revealed there was only one remaining.
Janette was also asked if she had de-cluttered before the move and whether her belongings were "ordered". She replied: "I'm pretty organised in general, and I like feeling fresh. I like feeling like I'm getting rid of the old and in with fresh and new."
"It's hard to do that with my husband, cos he's the opposite, and with a toddler in the house. And she's growing so fast. So, for clothing specifically and toys, she's changing so quickly, and I'm not keeping up with it as fast as I possibly can." Janette was then asked if she was keeping her daughter's items "just in case", to which she replied: "No, I'm letting it go. I kept...I'm keeping like the most...little things, like, for example, the first dress she ever wore, or, like, memory items."
Aljaž and Janette joined the popular BBC dance competition in 2013, having first crossed paths at London studios Dance Attic in 2010. Aljaž proposed two years after their Strictly debut, and they married in London. Lyra Rose was born in 2023, and the couple have recently toured with their own show, A Night To Remember.
Meanwhile, Strictly has been experiencing a period of significant change, with longtime hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly stepping away from their roles, and dancers Luba Mushtuk, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova and Michelle Tsiakkas reportedly exiting the show too. Janette recently addressed whether she would also be leaving. She told Radio Times: "I don't know, we'll have to wait and find out. I think everyone at the moment is on standby, so we'll see what happens… That's showbiz!"
She went on: "Strictly is definitely coming back, we can say that. I'm assuming we'll have a couple of new professionals and a couple of new presenters as well. We're very lucky, the show has given us this beautiful platform to be able to go off and do the tours that we do and we don't take it for granted." Janette and Aljaž are guests on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh today from 9.30am.
