Janet Jackson made a rare public appearance at the Recording Academy and Grammy Museum's 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala last week, marking her first sighting in seven months. The 59-year-old singer, who turns 60 on May 16, looked strikingly youthful in a charcoal gray suit and white shirt on the red carpet at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Fans React to Her Ageless Look
Fans were amazed by her appearance. One wrote on X: 'Not sure how Janet does it, but she looks half her age.' Another commented: 'She must be full of Botox or had a visit to her plastic surgeon because she does not have one wrinkle on her face.' A third noted: 'There is a sparkle in her eye like she is living her best life.'
Absence from Michael Jackson Biopic
This appearance comes after Janet declined to be portrayed in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael,' directed by Antoine Fuqua. Although many family members, including sister La Toya Jackson and nephew Jaafar Jackson, participated, Janet 'kindly declined.' La Toya confirmed this at the film's premiere. Jaafar plays Michael, with Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Jessica Sula as La Toya, and Juliano Valdi as young Michael.
Fuqua emphasized the importance of family involvement: 'You're telling somebody's life, you want to make sure that they're happy.' The Jackson estate has a financial stake, and Michael's son Prince Jackson serves as an executive producer, though his siblings Bigi and Paris are not involved.
Previous Public Sighting
Janet was last seen in October 2025 at Dancers Against Cancer's Gala Of The Stars, where she also looked youthful in a silky black mini dress and high heels, with highlighted hair.
Personal Life and Motherhood
In October 2016, Janet announced her pregnancy at age 50 with then-husband Wissam Al Mana. She delayed her tour, saying: 'I thought it was important that you be the first to know... I have to rest up, doctor's orders.' She gave birth to a son in January 2017, but soon after, she and Al Mana split. Rumors of trouble surfaced when she appeared without her wedding ring days after giving birth.
This was Janet's third marriage. She was briefly married to singer James DeBarge in 1984 and to backup dancer Rene Elizondo from 1991 to 2000. The latter ended in a reported $10 million divorce settlement.
During her marriage to Al Mana, Janet became very private and often wore full-body coverings, fueling speculation about a conversion to Islam, which she never confirmed or denied.
