James Norton and Pippa Middleton were among the stars in the Royal Box at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships on Monday, Day 8 of the tournament. The Happy Valley actor, 40, and the younger sister of Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, were all smiles as they took their seats at Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Other VIPs in Attendance

Other notable figures in the Royal Box included Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa, Homeland star David Harewood, actor Jason Flemyng, tennis legend Roger Federer, and comedian Sir Lenny Henry. Racing driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli also joined the celebrity lineup.

Matches and Weather

The celebrities gathered to watch Jasmine Paolini take on Alexandra Eala on Centre Court. Up next was Grigor Dimitrov against British wildcard sensation Arthur Fery, with the third match of the day featuring Jiri Lehecka versus Alexander Zverev. Wimbledon organisers urged guests to stay hydrated and keep safe under the sun as temperatures soared, marking what was expected to be the hottest day of the championships so far.

Temperatures reached as high as 34°C at the south-west London grounds on Monday, with forecasts from the Met Office indicating they would not dip much below 30°C for the remainder of the tournament. Guests fanned themselves to keep cool and watched matches under parasols in the absence of shade in the stands.

Heat Preparedness

All England Club chief executive Sally Bolton confirmed that Wimbledon was prepared for the spike in temperatures, with measures in place to protect guests, staff, and players. She told reporters: “We’ve had a bit of practise, particularly last year, but over the week before the championships (as well), and we’ve got our usual measures in place. There’s the heat rule present for the players, although I think, looking at the temperatures, we don’t anticipate getting close to that over these next few days.”

Wimbledon’s heat rule allows for a 10-minute break during a match when the wet bulb globe temperature reaches 30.1°C or higher. The combination of high-profile spectators and extreme weather conditions made Day 8 a memorable occasion at the championships.
