James McAvoy has disclosed that he and his wife Lisa Liberati secretly welcomed their second child four years ago. The 46-year-old Scottish actor revealed in an interview with The Guardian that he now lives in London with Lisa and their four-year-old son.
McAvoy said: 'Having a kid at 42 is definitely easier in some ways, I worry less. I'm a bit more philosophical. But it's also harder, because you're just older and more tired.' He is also father to 15-year-old son Brendon, from his previous marriage to Anne-Marie Duff.
The couple met in 2016 on the set of the horror film Split, where McAvoy starred and Liberati worked as director M. Night Shyamalan's personal assistant. They began a relationship several years later and married privately at an undisclosed time and location. Their marriage came to light in 2019 when McAvoy referred to Liberati as his 'wife'.
McAvoy and Duff, who married in 2006 and separated in May 2016, share son Brendon. Their divorce was finalised in 2018. McAvoy has always been private about his family life and does not post photographs of his children on social media.
