Jaime Winstone became visibly emotional while discussing how she has been coping following the Movie Week results on Strictly Come Dancing. On Sunday evening (October 4), audiences saw Jaime in the bottom two with Chris Appleton as the pair were forced to perform once more in an attempt to remain in the contest. With all judges choosing to save Jaime, she secured her place in the competition, while Chris became the first contestant to depart the series.
Making an appearance on It Takes Two on Tuesday evening (October 6) alongside her professional partner Carlos Gu, she reflected on the experience of facing the dance-off. She informed BBC presenter Ellie Taylor: "It was terrifying. All the feelings of 'Oh, nobody likes me, and we got so much wrong'. But, I loved doing the dance, I love the Cha Cha," Jaime revealed to Ellie. The positive aspect was getting another opportunity to perform it, given how much she had relished the routine.
Emotional Rehearsal Reflections
The 41-year-old confessed to the BBC presenter that while she felt proud of herself, being in that position was a 'horrific feeling'. As Carlos emphasised his pride in her commitment during rehearsals this week, noting she had not surrendered, Ellie observed her becoming increasingly emotional.
She remarked, "Jaime, you look so emotional about this." Jaime responded: "To be honest, it has been really emotional these last 24 hours. Just because you're - it's such a fast pace. I'm used to not being that vulnerable on camera."
"There were certain little things that Chris (Appleton) said yesterday. You do go back to that child in school, going, 'Oh, I don't fit in'. Actually, some of your greatest things about you are what make you stand out, and a lot of insecurities happened yesterday, and it's not how you fall, it's how you get yourself back up."
Upcoming Performance and Scores
During their discussion, the duo also disclosed what audiences can anticipate from their performance this coming Saturday on the BBC programme. Ellie informed viewers they would be performing a Viennese Waltz to the track Never Tear Us Apart. Enquiring about her experience, Jaime responded: "Oh my god, it's really emotional! It's emotional. Coming in with the energy, I can use it as the tools, you know? As an actor, I can go, 'Right ok, I am feeling really emotional from last weekend' But also, it's really powerful."
During the previous weekend's show, Jaime and Carlos received a score of 21 from the judging panel, while Chris was awarded a total of 17. Reflecting on his journey on the series, the hairdresser remarked: "I literally would go out there shaking, I did it anyway. There were times, where I was like, 'I'm not sure I can do this', but I did it. All I did was look back at Amy, I'd see her smile, and I knew she was with me, and you know what? That says something about the show, to have people that care so much about you."
The 43-year-old paused to commend the 'phenomenal' team working behind the scenes. He went on to say: "It really is a journey, it's a phenomenal one, and if you're lucky enough to do it, jump at it because it's amazing. But it's a journey." It Takes Two continues weekdays on BBC Two from 6:30pm.
