Jade Thirlwall has thrown down the gauntlet to Little Mix fans in Newcastle as the band brought their Confetti tour to the city. The South Shields singer took to Instagram to urge the Geordie crowd to prove they are among the best in the world, ahead of three shows at the Utilita Arena.
The tour, originally scheduled for 2020, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Anticipation grew further when Little Mix announced they would take a break after the tour concludes. The band kicked off the Confetti shows in Belfast last weekend before heading to Dublin and then Newcastle.
For Jade and bandmate Perrie Edwards, both from South Shields, the Newcastle gigs were extra special after not performing on home turf for over two years. In a black and white backstage photo on Instagram, Jade wrote: 'We’re in the toon today. Newcastle I hope you’re ready to give it everything the next 3 shows cos I tell everyone who’ll listen you’re one of the best crowds in the world - my family and friends are in and nothing makes me prouder than performing at home! Howay the mixers!'
During the show, Jade was delighted to spot Newcastle United tops and shirts from South Shields FC in the crowd. The band's Confetti tour continues across the UK.
