Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd has addressed fans' questions about his character David Platt's appearance after undergoing a third hair transplant. The actor, known for playing David Platt on the ITV soap, shaved his head for the procedure and shared updates on social media.
Jack's Hair Transplant Journey
Jack confirmed he had his third hair transplant, several years after his last surgery. In 2020, he revealed the results of his second transplant, admitting his receding hairline had shattered his confidence. His first procedure was in December 2018, followed by a second in December 2019.
Speaking on the On the Sofa podcast, which he co-hosts with Coronation Street co-star Ben Price and former soap star Colson Smith, Jack said: "This is my third one. So most people are thinking, I thought you'd just get one hair transplant and then it's Elvis. But that's not the case, apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on. So I had one in 2018, 2019 and now. So I've had it all done mainly on the front and sections."
Previously, Jack stated that as an actor, having a full head of hair was 'vital', and hurtful comments on social media pushed him to take action.
Will David Platt's Look Change On-Screen?
Fans are now wondering whether Jack's new shaven head will be acknowledged on Coronation Street. He shared a clip from the podcast on Instagram, saying: "Great to be back with @crownclinic_uk 4000 hairs we got! Unbelievably happy. 1st time shaven head, can't wait to see the results, more to follow…"
When a follower asked, "Is David going to wear a wig?" Jack replied with his trademark sarcasm: "In certain scenes yes. Or motorcycle helmet."
Many fans complimented Jack on his new look and praised his openness about the procedures. @michellekerr57 said: "I think you look really good without the hair." @traceypursall commented: "Actually like you without hair. But well done you." @sjfordy81 wrote: "The skin head suits you to be fair." @nelldoy92024 replied: "Good on you lad for speaking openly about your transplant, suits u shaved." @nesstruman posted: "You actually really suit it shaven." @christinehall979 shared: "Good for you Jack being so open about baldness and transplant, it must be soul destroying for some." @anniesnails2020 added: "You look lush with no hair, but good luck with the transformation."
