Jack Nicholson has turned 89, and his daughter Lorraine shared a rare photo of the Hollywood legend celebrating with family and friends, including singer Joni Mitchell. The actor, known for classics such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Shining, was seen smiling in the image, which delighted fans who rarely see him in public.
Nicholson shares Lorraine with his ex-wife Rebecca Broussard, to whom he was married from 1989 to 1994. He is also father to Jennifer Nicholson, 61, Caleb Goddard, 54, Honey Hollman, 43, Ray Nicholson, and Tessa Gourin, 31. In recent years, the actor has largely retreated from the spotlight, with his last film appearance being the 2010 rom-com How Do You Know.
Fans expressed their joy on social media, with one writing: “I appreciate the family sharing their Jack with all of us. There's a world of fans who've been entertained and touched by his art.” Another commented: “What a pleasure to see you,” while a third called him “one of the greatest actors of all time”.
Lorraine previously spoke about her father’s influence on her acting career, calling him her mentor. She recalled advice from her grandmother: “Don’t toot your own horn,” which she said means “be modest and let your work speak for itself”.
Nicholson made his film debut in 1958 and went on to star in iconic films including Easy Rider, Chinatown, Batman, A Few Good Men, and The Departed. He holds the record for most Oscar nominations by a male actor, winning three times for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Terms of Endearment, and As Good as It Gets.
