A Brazilian social media influencer has died in a motorbike crash, and her father, a police officer dispatched to the scene, reportedly took his own life after seeing her body.
Karla Thaynnara, 25, a nurse and consignment dealer with over 56,000 Instagram followers, lost control of her motorcycle on Tuesday morning (3 March) in Brasília. She collided with a car, was thrown onto the road, and then run over by a lorry, according to reports.
Her father, José Carlos Andrade Nogueira, was among the officers who responded to the incident. After seeing his daughter lying on the tarmac, he allegedly took his own life before colleagues could intervene.
Karla frequently posted about her life as a mother to a seven-year-old daughter, her work, and her passion for motorcycles. In August last year, she celebrated buying a flat, writing: 'It’s proof that dreams really do come true when you refuse to give up on them.'
The double tragedy has shocked the local community. Karla and her father are due to be laid to rest in Brasília on 4 March. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
