Grace Dent has left the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle on medical grounds after 10 days, with the food critic revealing that the loss of both her parents in recent years had motivated her to take on the challenge.
The 50-year-old journalist from Carlisle lost her mother to cancer in February 2021 and her father to dementia in December 2022. She previously described the agony of watching her father deteriorate, saying: 'Dementia is really awkward, not just painful and frightening... I don't like to be left alone with Dad.'
Before entering the jungle, Dent said the heartache had made her strong and resilient: 'I have been through a really difficult time over the last four or five years. This is going to be a big challenge and now I am older, life is for living.'
Fans had expressed concern for Dent after she appeared withdrawn during a Bushtucker Trial announcement on Sunday night. One viewer wrote on X: 'I'm getting worried for Grace.' Another predicted she might leave the following week.
ITV confirmed her departure, stating: 'Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed.' A source added: 'She is heading back to London today. She is tired and she just wants to get home.'
