Rapper Ice Spice has responded with humour after an altercation with a fan at a Los Angeles McDonald’s last week. The 26-year-old Grammy-nominated artist reshared viral footage of the incident on X, captioning it: “This wouldn’t happen at Wendy’s,” likely referencing her partnership with the rival fast-food chain.
The incident, captured on security cameras, occurred on Wednesday morning as Ice Spice, real name Isis Naija Gaston, was dining with a friend at a Hollywood branch. The footage shows a woman approaching the rapper’s table and repeatedly asking, “Are you from Cali?” before slapping her. Ice Spice then leapt up to defend herself, and both women were separated by a man who intervened.
The confrontation continued outside, where the woman allegedly shoved Ice Spice to the ground. In a statement to Billboard, the rapper’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, confirmed the matter had been reported to the Los Angeles Police Department. “The unprovoked attack on my client… we will be pursuing any and all criminal and civil avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible,” he said.
Cohen also criticised the McDonald’s location for “apparent lack of appropriate security” and suggested those involved were seeking fame. “They then turned their cameras on after the initial attack as if to set our client up… The only thing that will be going viral for them is their mugshots,” he added.
Representatives for Ice Spice did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The rapper herself, however, appeared to treat the incident lightly by overlaying the clip with a new song on social media.
