Howard Donald has said he would 'die a happy man' knowing what Take That have achieved in more than three decades, as he candidly reflected on their latest epic tour coming to an end. The singer and his bandmates Gary Barlow and Mark Owen revived their memorable Circus Live tour, 17 years after they last performed the show.
Originally staged in 2009, The Circus Live broke UK records as the fastest-selling tour in history, selling over 600,000 tickets in under five hours and attracting over one million fans to sell-out shows across the UK and Ireland. The 2026 reboot featured fire-breathers, stilt-walkers, clowns, acrobats, tap dancers, and a 30-foot-tall mechanical elephant.
Tour Details and Emotional Aftermath
The stadium run began at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium in May and continued across the UK, including four homecoming shows at Manchester's Etihad Stadium, before officially ending in Dublin on Saturday night (July 4). More than a week after the final show, Donald shared his reflections on Instagram, admitting the end has been difficult.
He wrote: "It’s taken me time to process the events of the last three months and my head has been different places so here goes…. Forgive me if it’s all over the place and my English sucks! PTB (post tour blues) is a thing and takes a while to disappear for some of us (especially me)."
Donald described the physical and emotional toll: "Your body craves to move and doesn’t want to stop performing even though your body hurts and your throat is done! You crave the hotels, travel and cities along the way and crave being away from the energy of your children, but at the same time love when they come on tour."
Love for Performing and Fan Reactions
He emphasised the passion behind their work: "Some may be thinking just take the money and run, but no, it’s not like that. We love performing, it’s etched into our bones, runs through our blood and into our muscle memory." Donald concluded: "Sadly, all good things come to an end and if I was to pop my dancing shoes tomorrow, I would die a happy man knowing I have been there and done what many groups have never achieved!"
Fans flooded him with supportive messages. @jenniecurtis_ said: "Oh Howard. Spoken from the heart! The joy you bring us is amazing." @lindamadonmarkie commented: "It was the best tour ever!! Cannot wait to see you again!!" @maxmiddletonnn wrote: "PTB is hitting hard, thanks for the best summer ever."
