In Taiz, Yemen, a fighter affiliated with the Houthis fired his machine gun as they advanced against Saudi-backed Yemeni government troops. Saudi officials said on Wednesday that three people had been killed in attacks on two of the kingdom’s international airports, including in the capital, Riyadh, after Yemen’s Houthis claimed to have fired on both transport hubs.
In Kyiv, Ukraine, rescuers were seen outside a damaged five-storey residential building after a Russian drone attack. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a Ukrainian serviceman prepared to launch middle-range Darts drones.
In Istanbul, Turkey, search and rescue teams evacuated an injured person on a stretcher after the lower floors of a seven-storey building partly collapsed in the Maltepe district.

In London, a painting by Piet Mondrian called Composition III (Komposition No XIII) was displayed at Christie’s auction rooms. It is estimated at £20-30m ($26-40m) and will form part of the 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale.

In Mbour, Senegal, fishers headed out to sea at dawn despite heavy rains and stormy weather in the Petite Côte region. Using traditional wooden pirogues, they bring their daily catch back to be sold at local markets and play a key role in the nation’s seafood trade and processing industry.
In Paris, adult protesters formed a human chain to protect teenagers during a blockade near Hélène Boucher high school, part of a nationwide movement over learning conditions. Since late September, pupils have barred the entrances to hundreds of schools, complaining of teacher absences, overloaded timetables, dilapidated classrooms and buildings ill-adapted to rising temperatures.
