Former Hollyoaks star Nathan Sussex has confirmed he is joining the cast of Coronation Street, sharing a photo of himself outside the Rovers Return on Instagram.
The actor, known to Channel 4 soap fans as sex offender Buster Smith, wrote in the caption: "I couldn’t walk down the cobbles and not get a piccy outside the Rovers. There’s a new boy in Weatherfield very soon."
Friend Carol Vorderman shows support
Nathan's friend and former Countdown host Carol Vorderman reshared his post on her Instagram Story, writing: "One of my best friends, my gorgeous Nathan Sussex, has been filming a big new role already on @coronationstreet. His episodes start soonish."
Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley, who reprised her role as Eva Price last year, replied: "Reunited [heart emoji]." Nathan responded: "Can’t get rid of me babes." Actress Sian Gibson also commented: "Love this!!! [heart emojis]."
Storyline for Sally and Tim Metcalfe teased
While details about Nathan's character have not been confirmed, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks previously teased a major storyline for fan-favourite couple Sally and Tim Metcalfe. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she said: "There's a massive story for Sally and Tim that comes to the fore, and it's a story that tests them as people, tests them as a couple, but tests them as foster parents as well. It’s a bit of a curveball, and it comes from slightly left field, but absolutely upends their lives."
Brooks added: "It’s how they navigate that situation going forward. Sally and Tim are so beloved, and I just adore them. And it's seeing them in a slightly different position than what we've seen them in before."
