Hollyoaks Star Confirms Major Missing Person Story in Summer

Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane has confirmed that a major missing person storyline is set to take the soap by storm this summer. The actress, who plays Myra McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, told Metro about the ‘spectacular’ scenes ahead.

Teasing the Missing Person Plot

‘You’ve got to keep your eyes on the Cleo and Dodger situation,’ she teased. ‘We’ve got a missing person somewhere – not in the McQueens but within in the village. The upcoming wedding is spectacular – in more ways than one! There are lot’s of things going on!’

The question remains: if not a McQueen, then who is it that vanishes? The summer trailer, released this week, previewed an explosive season with the return of legendary character Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) at the centre of it all.

Affair and Drama

Elsewhere, Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) is having an affair with Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) behind Theresa McQueen’s (Jorgie Porter) back. Myra currently remains in the dark about the affair, but Nicole reckons her alter-ego would have a lot to say when the truth comes out.

‘As usual, she will try to gather everyone and sort it out as best she can,’ she said, adding: ‘However, what is annoying is that she is kept out of the loop. If she was kept in the loop she could give a little advice – so that it wouldn’t get to the levels of drama it needs to be in order to be on the show! [laughs].’

Myra’s Perspective

‘But Myra clocks the Theresa/Dodger situation, she knows that’s going on. She’s a little worried about it. She’s giving it the benefit of the doubt but hoping for the best. Like when John Paul was going out with Jez, she wanted it to work out – like you do in real life – but when she finds out the reality, it’s a hard kick, isn’t it? It’s going to be really interesting.’

John Paul’s Exit

Nicole also revealed that she was sad to see John Paul star James Sutton exit the show after two decades. ‘He’s said goodbye a couple of times, like myself – we’ve both boomeranged previously! I do feel this time he’s taking it as a step and it’s beautiful to see him fly personally – I’m really happy for him. But I was sad to see John Paul go!’

Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 6am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
