Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) is set to face a terrifying ordeal in Hollyoaks next week when what she believes to be a meeting with her ex-husband Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) takes a shocking turn. The teens, suspecting Leela is having an affair with Maddox’s stepdad Jonah (Matthew Wolfenden), devise a plot to prove it. They leave her a note signed from 'J', luring her to a meeting spot.
Cleo's Dilemma Over Joel
Meanwhile, Leela receives a visit from Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin), who reveals that Joel has been in touch about seeing their baby Joseph and is set to be released from prison soon. Joel was jailed for the murder of Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows), but the crime was actually committed by serial killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield). After the truth emerged, the murder charges were dropped, but Joel remained behind bars for GBH charges and was moved to Scotland to serve the rest of his sentence.
Cleo is unsure about letting Joel see Joseph and seeks Leela’s advice, hoping they are on the same page. However, the situation escalates when Leela receives the letter from 'J' and believes it is from Joel, wanting to meet. After some thought, she decides to go to the meeting spot.
The Ambush
Upon arrival, Leela is confronted by four masked strangers who emerge with paintball guns pointed directly at her. The teens, who orchestrated the ambush, later try to act as if they were at school, hoping to avoid suspicion. However, the following day, they wake to the disappointed faces of their parents.
The question remains: what will happen next? Will Leela be okay, and will those responsible be held to account?
Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 6am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
