Holly Willoughby's new YouTube lifestyle series, Together, premiered with a cooking segment featuring actor Stanley Tucci, but attracted fewer than 10,000 viewers in its first five hours. The 50-minute episode, focusing on a simple pasta dish, drew a mixed response from viewers, with some praising it and others criticising the pacing.
Mixed Reactions from Viewers
Comments on the video included criticism such as "Gave up after 10 minutes - was like watching paint dry" from Virginia Davies, and "BORING....omg this is so bad!" from Maria Raposa. Another viewer, Joshua Kampamba, said: "It's giving the Meghan Sussex vibe," referencing Meghan Markle's Netflix cookery series. However, some were positive: Caroline Yeo said "I enjoyed it! Going to try the recipe definitely," and Angela Dawson commented "Great show. Loved it and looking forward to more."
Inspiration from Family
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Willoughby said she was inspired to launch the YouTube channel by her children. "It's basically all the things I love; fashion, beauty, cooking, showbiz and real-life stories, and I've put them together in one place," she said. "It was born out of seeing how my kids view stuff. It feels like there's this whole new world of opportunity where you can create these mini-worlds and people can come and find you." She added that her daughter had laughed at her attempts to learn YouTube terminology like "subscribe and ding the bell."
Future Episodes and Guests
The Together series will release two episodes per week under five pillars: Talk Together, Cook Together, Look Good Together, Better Together and Hang Out Together. Upcoming guests include Katherine Ryan, Joanne McNally, Emma Bunton and Nicole Appleton.
Comeback After Hiatus
The show marks Willoughby's return after leaving This Morning in 2023, following 14 years as host. Her departure came months after co-host Phillip Schofield left amid an affair scandal, and following a plot to kidnap her.
