Holly Willoughby's much-anticipated return to presenting has suffered an awkward blow after her new online show failed to attract viewers. Figures show just 35,000 people watched the first episode of Together on its launch day.
The 45-year-old TV star announced earlier this month she would be returning to screens with a YouTube web series, billed as her big comeback after abruptly leaving This Morning in 2023. The show focuses on real-life stories, cooking and lifestyle, similar to her former ITV role.
Disappointing debut
The first episode aired on Tuesday, July 28, and featured actor Stanley Tucci, known for The Devil Wears Prada. The pair cooked courgettes while chatting and drinking wine, with Holly offering Tucci a beer. She immediately swore on camera, saying: "Oh he wants a beer? I f*****g love that man."
Despite a star-studded guest list, viewers were not impressed. The episode racked up only 35,000 views in its first 24 hours. Before the launch, Holly had around 8,000 YouTube subscribers, with another 2,000 signing up after the show began – a far cry from the millions who watched her on This Morning or Dancing on Ice.
Awkward moments
Other notable moments included Holly throwing a stick of spaghetti at the wall to check if it was cooked, only for Tucci to correct her, explaining it would be overcooked if it stuck. In an earlier preview, she joked about feeling like she was on a certain adult content page after confirming the move to her web show.
Future episodes will feature Spice Girl Emma Bunton and comedian Katherine Ryan. Despite the low initial viewership, the series continues to release new content.
