Holly Ramsay's Wedding Bible Verse Post Sparks Irony Amid Family Feud
Holly Ramsay's Wedding Bible Verse Sparks Family Feud Irony

Holly Ramsay has described how "special" it was to have her mother, Tana, read a bible verse at her wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, in a social media post that carried a heavy dose of irony. The celebration, held at Bath Abbey on December 17, was overshadowed by a bitter family dispute that resulted in the groom's own mother being barred from attending.

A Lavish Day Overshadowed by Conflict

The 26-year-old influencer, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, exchanged vows with 31-year-old Peaty in a ceremony full of pomp. However, the event was marred by an ugly row that led to Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty, being disinvited in November. The feud reportedly erupted after Caroline was not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse.

On Wednesday, Holly took to her Instagram Stories, sharing a black-and-white photo of Tana at a reading stand during the wedding service. She captioned the snap: 'So special having mum read our favourite bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13.'

The Ironic Choice of Scripture

The selected passage focuses intensely on the virtues of patience, kindness, and selflessness—qualities conspicuously absent in the reported family fallout. The verse states: 'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.'

This poignant post emerged just days after Gordon Ramsay himself sparked further controversy. Commenting on a newlywed's Instagram post, he wrote: 'Beautiful ❤️ love you both Dad @hollyramsaypeaty @adamramsaypeaty.' Fans were quick to interpret his use of "Dad" for both Holly and Adam as a pointed dig at the swimmer's estranged parents.

Speech Sparks Outrage and Defence

Reports suggest Gordon's father-of-the-bride speech included a sly remark about the absent Peaty family. He is alleged to have told his daughter, 'Shame you don't have the same,' in reference to his own happy marriage. A family source told the Daily Mail that Caroline was left "outraged" and "hurt," believing the comment was a "pre-planned" and "cruel" swipe.

Gordon later defended his speech on ITV's This Morning, calling it "perfect and warm." His daughter Tilly confirmed she had heard it beforehand and said it "made everybody cry." Bride Holly also defended her father, telling British Vogue she felt "overwhelmed with happiness" during his words.

In a further move that highlighted the divide, Holly revealed her parents paid for the couple's honeymoon to Mauritius. Meanwhile, Adam's mother Caroline, speaking from the family home in Staffordshire, told the Mail on Sunday: "I'm not going to be hurt like this again," having previously said she felt as if the couple had "cut my heart out."

The roots of the conflict trace back to September 2024, when wider Peaty family members were not invited to the engagement party. The situation escalated with the hen do snub, culminating in Caroline's devastating exclusion from her son's wedding day.
