Holly Ramsay has publicly defended the speech her father, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, gave at her recent wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty. The 25-year-old influencer said she felt "overwhelmed with happiness" listening to his words, despite reports of a pointed tone amid a family rift.
A Wedding Amidst Family Tensions
The couple tied the knot at Bath Abbey on December 27, with a lavish reception following at the upmarket Kin House. The celebration, however, was shadowed by a reported bitter fallout between Adam Peaty and his own family. This led to the notable absence of his mother, Caroline, who was reportedly uninvited from the proceedings.
During the festivities, Gordon Ramsay, 59, stepped in to offer paternal support. He was quoted saying his wife, Tana, "will be a good mum to them both," directly addressing the apparent void. According to reports, his father-of-the-bride speech praised Holly's beauty and told Adam, 31, he was a "lucky man." He then added, "Look at Tana and that's what you have to look forward to."
Holly's Heartfelt Defence in Vogue
In a new interview with British Vogue, Holly Ramsay has now addressed the commentary surrounding the speech. She shared a photo of herself and Adam laughing during her father's address, captioning it: "Listening to dad's speech, looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests' faces."
In what appeared to be a subtle reference to the estrangement, Holly revealed that her parents paid for the couple's luxurious honeymoon to Mauritius as their wedding present. "We're going to Mauritius to just lie by the sea – that was our wedding present from my parents," she said, adding she had to tell the champion swimmer they weren't planning the trip "around a 25-metre pool."
Navigating Awkward Family Dynamics
The published wedding photos included one that highlighted the complex family situation. A group shot featured Holly and Adam posing with her parents, Gordon and Tana, and guests David and Victoria Beckham. With Adam's parents not in attendance, the groom stood alongside his new in-laws.
It is reported that Adam Peaty did not mention his own family in his wedding speech. Instead, he chose to praise his long-time swim coach, Mel Marshall, describing her as his "everything" and crediting her for "grounding and inspiring" him.
Through her Vogue feature, Holly Ramsay has firmly positioned herself, celebrating the joy of her wedding day and standing by her father's words, despite the swirling rumours of underlying family drama.
