Holly Hagan has marked the first anniversary of her younger sister Darci Rose Gibson's death with an emotional tribute. Darci died aged 19 from an accidental overdose of crystal MDMA, suffering multi-organ failure after a night out in Manchester in October 2025.
The former Geordie Shore star took to Instagram on Tuesday (October 20) to remember her sister, reflecting on the day the family lost Darci and revealing how her sister went on to save another person's life by donating her heart.
A Tribute to Darci
In a moving post, Holly wrote: "1 year without you. We love and miss you so much Darci xxx." She recalled the heartbreaking moments surrounding her sister's death, including recording Darci's heartbeat on a Doppler device to put inside a teddy bear for their parents.
She said: "Today was the day I recorded your heartbeat on a doppler to put into a bear for my parents.. it was the day they checked to see if your heart was suitable for transplant."
"The day they searched the database to find a match.. the day they ran 2 rounds of brain activity tests whilst we watched them find no signs of life."
Remembering a Hero and Angel
The reality star also remembered choosing comfortable pyjamas for Darci to wear after organ donation and discovering the meaning behind two of her tattoos. She continued: "The day we took photos of all your tattoos and realised one said 'everything happens for a reason; and the one that shook us all 'live where your heart finds life' whilst you were about to give your heart to someone else."
Holly recalled receiving a call from the transplant nurse at 10pm confirming the operation had gone well and Darci's heart was on its way to its recipient. She added: "But it wasn't just the day you died, it was the day you saved a life.. the day you became a hero and an angel all in one."
Keeping Her Memory Alive
The 34-year-old vowed to keep her sister's memory alive, sharing how everyday reminders, including butterflies, Minions socks and watching The Lion King, bring Darci to mind. She wrote: "I won't let anyone forget you much baby girl!"
Holly's friends and family flooded the comments with messages of support. Geordie Shore co-star Sophie Kasaei wrote: "A year of having an angel protecting you and watching over you all beautiful darci." Chloe Ferry simply added: "Sending love," while Holly's husband Jacob Blyth said: "Strongest woman I know. Love you a lot."
In August, Holly issued a warning to festival-goers following her sister's death, urging people to look after themselves and their friends. She wrote: "Please be careful. Look after your friends and don't show off. It's not worth the risk."
When Darci died last year, Holly paid tribute to the medical staff who cared for her sister, describing the family's final days together as an experience she hoped no other family would endure. She said: "We are traumatised in every sense of the word."
