Hilaria Baldwin has opened up about her long and painful recovery after breaking her hip at the age of 25. The 42-year-old yoga instructor, wife of actor Alec Baldwin, revealed that she could not walk well for nearly a year following the accident and that the injury has left her with lasting issues.
In an Instagram post sharing a video of herself practising a yoga pose, Hilaria wrote: 'Broke my hip when I was 25 and couldn't walk well for the better part of a year. You can see the scar on the outside of my hip. It took me years to recover and to be quite honest, it will never be the same.'
The mother-of-seven, who also broke her ankle in 2020 after falling down a roadside bank while running, expressed gratitude for her ability to move. 'Moving for me isn't just fun, grounding and how I feel good, it's daily gratitude,' she added.
Hilaria has also been a pillar of support for her husband, Alec, who underwent hip replacement surgery in 2018 and again in 2023 to address chronic pain. She shared a picture of Alec recovering from the latest operation, saying, 'We have been through so much together… as your partner and as you heal, I want so very much for you to leave this very intense chronic pain chapter behind and improve your quality of life.'
Alec, 67, later posted a video about the surgery, describing the intense pain but emphasising it was necessary. 'I needed this surgery done at least two years ago and walked around and limped and I did myself no favors,' he said, adding that the compensatory damage to his back, neck, feet, and knees had been significant.
