Josh Hall has hit back at his ex-wife Christina Haack with a cryptic message about 'liars' after she publicly detailed a failed proposal during their relationship. The HGTV star claimed that Hall threw an engagement ring into a pool after she initially declined his proposal, calling it a 'red flag' in a new interview with People magazine.
In response, Hall shared a quote on his Instagram Stories that read: 'Never argue with liars. You can't win, because they believe their own lies.' The post was accompanied by Chuck Brodsky's song 'Liar Liar, Pants on Fire.' A representative for Hall later told People: 'Josh has no clue what Christina is talking about.'
Haack had explained that she turned down the first proposal because the couple 'weren't getting along super great even then, off and on.' She added: 'When things were good, they were good, but it just felt like I wasn't quite ready... he had the patio decorated, and he threw it in the pool.'
The former couple's divorce was finalized in late August, with Hall receiving multiple properties, cars, a one-time payment of $300,000, and coverage of $40,000 in attorney fees. Haack also paid him an additional $100,000 last year. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hall criticised Haack for publicising their divorce drama, calling it 'classless' and 'immature.'
After the settlement, Hall posted on Instagram: 'Finally, legally divorced and a free man. I've always worked hard, kept what's mine, and declined hand outs... Lesson learned: don't marry someone who needs constant public validation and will use your personal drama for attention.'
