Helen Skelton Denies Gethin Jones Engagement Rumours

Helen Skelton has addressed the rumours that she and her co-host Gethin Jones are in a relationship, revealing she was even congratulated on their non-existent engagement. The presenter regularly appears on BBC1’s Morning Live, and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 shortly after her split with ex-husband, rugby player Richie Myler. The pair co-parent their three children - sons Ernie and Louis, and daughter Elsie.

Rumours Reignited After Comic Relief

While Helen doesn't share her love life publicly, in October last year, she reignited speculation of a romance with Morning Live star Gethin. It came months after they were among those who helped to raise £34m for Comic Relief during its 40th anniversary last year. The pair completed a Wheely Big Challenge for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, funding vital projects that tackle poverty, injustice, conflict, and climate change in the UK and around the world.

Helen's Previous Denials

But months later, speaking about her closeness with her co-hosts on the BBC show, Gethin and Michelle Ackerley, Helen suggested there was nothing to the rumours. She told Prima magazine: "I’ve been friends with [presenters] Michelle and Gethin for 25 years. Geth was on Blue Peter before me, so we’ve always crossed paths, and Michelle and I were flatmates when we lived in London. We’re all in the same frame of mind. The tricky bit is, we’re such good mates that sometimes we forget we’re on air! I see my work friends as much as I do my real friends."

New Interview Addresses Rumours

Now, Helen has been quizzed again on the romance rumours in a new interview. Speaking to The Times, the 42-year-old said: "It's wild. I've had my best friend congratulate me on our engagement. We're not (together). We work together; he's one of my best friends."

Children's Curiosity About Her Love Life

And she also shared how her children even seem interested in her love life. Helen added: "So many things are really wonderful. My daughter said to me today, 'Why haven't you got a wedding ring on, Mummy?' My middle son said, 'Do you think you'll die alone?' I just laughed. I said, 'I'll die happy'."
