Helen George, known for her role in Call The Midwife, has disclosed that a former boyfriend died after a sudden leukaemia diagnosis. The 42-year-old actress, who recently split from Dan Innes, shared the news on the Mystic Mates podcast.
Secret Relationship and Tragic Diagnosis
George revealed she had been dating a man, whose name she has not disclosed, before his sudden diagnosis. 'I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia,' she said on the podcast. 'It was pretty serious from the start and he knew.' The diagnosis came just before she flew to the Bahamas to film ITV's Shark! Infested Celebrity Waters, which aired in July 2025.
George described the emotional turmoil of leaving during such a difficult time. 'The next day after that happened I had to fly out to the Bahamas to film the ITV shark documentary. I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man.'
Spiritual Connection and Ongoing Grief
The actress believes her ex-boyfriend still watches over her and communicates through clairvoyance readings. She shared that during a recent reading, a medium said an ex-boyfriend who died 'very suddenly' was making contact, expressing displeasure about her current situation. 'I cried because it was wonderful to think this person, whom I didn't really know for that long, was there,' she said. 'He was angry that he'd left me looking for someone else and then finding someone else who wasn't suitable.'
George added that she would like to become a clairvoyant herself, stating, 'I'd like to talk to dead people.'
Recent Split with Dan Innes
Earlier this year, George and Dan Innes moved in together at her London home, which she shares with her two children, Wren Ivy and Lark, from her previous relationship with co-star Jack Ashton. However, a source confirmed the couple has split, and George posted on social media hints of heartbreak, including a quote about 'responding to disrespect.'
George and Innes reportedly met on the dating app Raya and attended several industry events together before their breakup.
