Helen Flanagan claps back at mum-shaming critics

Helen Flanagan has offered a cheeky response to those who question the way she dresses 'as a mum' after offering an update on her love life.

Single for a year

The Bury-born actress, who played Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, shares three children — Matilda, Delilah and Charlie — with her footballer ex, Scott Sinclair. The former couple split in 2022 after 13 years together and have been co-parenting while living at opposite ends of the country.

Earlier this year, Helen shared she was leaving her eight-bedroom home near Bolton, which she got with Scott five years ago before their separation. In May, she revealed she and the children had left the property.

Now, in a new social media post, Helen marked 12 months of single life following her split with footballer Robbie Talbot last year. She wrote on Instagram Story: "The only time I miss having a boyfriend is when I don't have my kids. I am more of a relationship girl. I turn 36 next week and I've done a whole year of being single. I don't think it's a bad thing to be this way I think it's only natural to want connection. I don't want to settle, though, unless it's right so if it's not I'd rather be on my own."

The former soap star added: "I'm not someone who really likes being on their own in general and that's ok. If I'm not with my kids I like to be with my close friends or my family."

Cheeky response to critics

Helen also appeared to take aim at those who comment on her appearance. She posted a video on Instagram showing herself sitting in the back of a car, smiling and pouting for the camera while wearing jeans and a black corset top with white lace detailing.

She captioned the post: "You're a mum, you shouldn’t dress like that [shushing face emoji]. Never bought a drink in my life [crying laughing emoji]."

Opening up about ADHD

Helen recently opened up about living with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in a series of Instagram posts entitled: "Things I experience as an ADHD woman". She shared several photos, each with its own caption. In one, she was seen in tears as she discussed her love life after splitting with Robbie Talbot in May 2025.

"Last time I had proper feelings for someone, it just felt like a lot," she wrote alongside the image, after earlier describing herself as once being "boy mad". She continued: "Intense. My friends say I’m like Cathy Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights lol. I get limerence, and I also get terrible rejection sensitivity, but I am learning to deal with that better."
