Heeseung, a member of the K-pop group Enhypen, has left the band to pursue a solo music career, leaving fans devastated. The announcement was made by Belift Lab, the group's label, on Tuesday.
In a statement, Belift Lab explained that after in-depth discussions with all members about their future visions, it became clear that Heeseung had a distinct musical direction, and the label decided to respect his choice. The label acknowledged the news might be difficult for fans but asked for understanding.
Fans expressed shock and heartbreak on social media, with many saying the decision came without warning. Some compared the departure to Zayn Malik leaving One Direction in 2015, with one fan writing that it felt like history repeating itself.
Enhypen will continue as a six-member group, consisting of Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki. Heeseung shared a message on Weverse, thanking the members and fans for their support over the past six years, calling his time with the group a shining moment in his life.
