Prince Harry admits he wants to reconcile with Charles and William
Harry wants to reconcile with Charles and William

Prince Harry has said he wants to "work it out" with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William, in a candid interview with GQ magazine. The Duke of Sussex, 42, reflected on his life and family, admitting he is keen to heal the rift that has separated him from his relatives.

Harry told GQ: "Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That's the key point." He also acknowledged that he grieves being estranged from William, 44, saying the topic is "another massively relatable issue for so many people."

A Long-Standing Family Rift

The Duke of Sussex first admitted to the rift in 2019, and public appearances with his brother have since dwindled. They were pictured together in July 2021 at the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana in Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden, and again in September 2022, walking side by side at Queen Elizabeth's funeral. However, hopes of a resolution faded as the pair stayed distant at the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.

The bond has become more strained since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and spoke publicly about their experiences with "The Firm." Harry has previously opened up about his life and relationships, including in his 2023 memoir Spare, which detailed the impact of Princess Diana's death and his relationship with his brother, father, and stepmother, Queen Camilla.

Recent Moves and Meetings

The Sussexes gave a tell-all interview to Oprah in 2021, followed by a Netflix documentary, before Spare was published. Weeks ago, Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, before the children started school in England. William and Harry are believed not to have met since the Sussexes' return, while Charles is understood to have reunited with Harry, Meghan, and the children at Highgrove House this summer.
