Harry Styles made a surprise appearance at the Ivor Novello Awards in London on Thursday night to present the Academy Fellowship to Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. During his speech, the pop star revealed that he lost his virginity to the intro of Radiohead's B-side 'Talk Show Host'.
Styles called Radiohead his 'favourite band' and described Yorke as a 'restless creative' and 'an artist in its truest form'. He said Yorke's work has influenced his belief in the purpose of the arts and directly inspired his own music, noting that 'without Exit Music there would be no Watermelon Sugar'.
The 71st Ivor Novello Awards, held at Grosvenor House, celebrated the craft and cultural impact of songs and screen compositions. Yorke received the Academy Fellowship alongside George Michael, who was posthumously awarded the honour.
Styles also shared a personal anecdote about meeting Yorke in Rome, describing the encounter as a 'truly terrifying honour'. He said Yorke was 'light, friendly and kind', and that the meeting left him 'beaming'.
