Harry Styles Defends Tour Stage Setup After Fans Call It 'Worst of All Time'
Harry Styles Defends Tour Stage After Fan Backlash

Harry Styles has defended his current tour after it faced backlash from furious fans who paid to attend. The 32-year-old former One Direction star is playing 10 dates at Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff Arena, but some concert-goers were unimpressed with the staging of the Together, Together tour.

One fan labelled it the "worst of all time" due to obstructed views, with some fuming they could not see the star for much of the show. On Saturday, Harry addressed the criticism and explained the reason behind the unusual stage layout. He told fans: "The reason why we made the stage like this is because I wanted to be in it with you."

He added: "I wanted to be as close to as many of you as possible, because that's what this tour is all about. It's about being together, having fun together, sharing a moment together, dancing together, being with your friends, being with strangers, getting swayed with your friends, getting swayed with strangers."

Harry continued: "That is how I made this album and that is how I would like you to listen to it tonight. Thank you for being here with us, thank you for coming back to stay with us, it means a lot to us, thank you so much."

However, that did not stop concert-goers venting on social media. One had previously raged on X that their view was obstructed by the 10ft tall walkways surrounding the stadium floor. They branded it "offensive" and the "worst of all time". But others were fully on board with the layout and praised the star's performance.

The Guardian gave the show a four-star review, writing: "In a world where pop stars are encouraged to take no risks whatsoever, there's something appealing about being in the presence of a pop star who's willing to push the envelope at least a little."

After his Amsterdam dates, Harry will head to Wembley Stadium for an even more impressive 12 dates, supported by Shania Twain. While promoting his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, inspired by nights out in Berlin and at the legendary club Berghain, he is also treating fans to tracks from his previous bodies of work.

This includes tracks from his debut solo single, Sign of The Times. He joked about the album that he had "just written backstage". In previous years, Harry had been known to treat fans to tracks from his One Direction days. However, he does not include any tunes from his boyband era this time around.
