Richard Hammond, the former Top Gear host, has been fined £999 and received seven penalty points after admitting two speeding offences. He was caught driving his Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo at 68mph in a 50mph zone on December 2, 2025, and his Bentley Continental GT at 82mph in a 70mph zone on December 22, 2025, both in Herefordshire.
The offences occurred within 20 days. Police used speed camera images and spent weeks sending letters to his properties, including a Grade II* listed castle and a farm estate, which were returned. He was eventually traced to his mansion near Abergavenny, Wales, where over 30 vehicles are registered.
Court Proceedings and Penalties
At Telford Magistrates' Court on July 22, Magistrate Ann Minton ordered Hammond to pay a total of £1,771, consisting of fines of £333 and £666, £240 costs, and £532 victim surcharges. He was among 39 defendants convicted in a Single Justice Procedure session.
Hammond pleaded guilty through his lawyers to two speeding charges. Two additional allegations of failing to identify the driver were withdrawn after his solicitor stated he had replied by first class post.
