Lewis Hamilton has spoken publicly about his relationship with girlfriend Kim Kardashian for the first time, after the couple shared a kiss following his podium finish at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion described having Kardashian by his side as "amazing" during another strong performance for Ferrari.
Hamilton's Podium Success
For the second consecutive race weekend, Hamilton secured second place, trailing only championship leader Kimi Antonelli. This marked his third podium finish of the season. He achieved this feat with Kardashian in attendance, who was experiencing a Formula 1 race for the first time since the couple began dating.
Kardashian's Presence at the Race
Kardashian watched the action from a balcony overlooking the Ferrari garage, accompanied by her sister Khloe. After the race, she descended to join Ferrari staff beneath the podium to see Hamilton spray the customary champagne. Her presence caused considerable excitement in the paddock, with large crowds gathering to capture photographs as she moved around.
She also declined an interview with Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle during his pre-race grid walk, as her security detail politely brushed him aside. Despite this, the day proved victorious for Hamilton, who navigated a chaotic race after Max Verstappen suffered an engine failure on the starting grid.
Hamilton Breaks His Silence
Hamilton had previously been hesitant to discuss his relationship with Kardashian within the F1 paddock, despite the pair being photographed together in public on multiple occasions in recent months, including trips to the Coachella music festival and several romantic getaways during non-race weekends. However, he broke his silence following Sunday's podium ceremony, during which he was seen blowing a kiss towards his partner.
Speaking about the American reality TV star, Hamilton said: "It's amazing to have her come this weekend and to have that support. It's amazing to have good people around you, good people supporting you, and she does that for me every day."
Progress and Future Goals
Reflecting on his performance, Hamilton said: "I think we've been progressing over the last few months. We can't quite keep up with Mercedes just yet, and it's probably going to take a lot of work to get to their level, but to get another second place is such a great feeling."
"Especially in Monaco, under the trickiest conditions, it was the hardest conditions out there. We've had such a great turnout today as well. I'll definitely take it."
Hamilton expressed gratitude to his team, stating: "I'm very, very thankful to my team because, coming from such a horrendous year last year, I'm finally in a position where I'm reigniting the passion and the belief they had in me when I first joined. After a really big slump last year, to come back up, it's great to see the fight in them. They've done a fantastic job. We've got a lot of work to try to close that gap, though."
