Lewis Hamilton has shared a poignant message following the death of his girlfriend Kim Kardashian's grandmother, alongside a series of pictures of the two enjoying time together. The Formula 1 star posted to Instagram just after MJ Shannon's death was announced on July 16.

The post featured a series of pics of Hamilton with his family, before moving on to a picture of him and Kim Kardashian looking at each other lovingly as they stood on the edge of a boat, along with videos from the same moment. The glimpses at their romance appear to have come from a recent holiday together.
In the first picture together, Hamilton grasped Kardashian's hand. Both stars were in wetsuits and held onto a paddle board. The following video showed the two laughing as Kardashian pulled Hamilton into the water. Later, the two appeared in another picture where he had his arm over her shoulder as they walked along a country road.
The Caption and Its Meaning
In the caption, Hamilton appeared to be referencing the tough loss for Kardashian and her family, as he wrote: "hold your people close." He added a hug emoji. The post came just after MJ's death was announced.
Hamilton and Kardashian were first linked together earlier this year after they went for a romantic getaway in the Cotswolds together. They made things official in April, and before the British Grand Prix earlier this month, he credited her for making him a “happier man”.
MJ Shannon's Death and Family Reaction
Mary Jo Shannon, who was 91 when she died, was the mother of Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner. Jenner released a statement following her mother's death, which read: "Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ. There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. My mom was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted."
