A hairdresser in Brisbane, Australia, has been filmed telling a customer to 'pay and f*** off' after the client refused to pay full price for an incomplete blow-dry. The incident occurred on September 12 at a salon that had responded to a last-minute appointment request posted on Facebook.
Paige Kakahi, 24, a roofing company owner, booked a wash, cut, and blow-dry ahead of a dinner with her in-laws. She said the initial stylist began blow-drying her hair without a nozzle and then left to pick up her son, handing over to a colleague. The replacement stylist rushed through the blow-dry but stopped at 6pm, telling Paige she had to leave immediately, leaving her hair still curly and unfinished.
When Paige refused to pay the full price, the hairdresser became aggressive. In a video recorded by Paige, who was holding her two-month-old baby, the stylist is heard saying: 'Don't give your opinion, you're not a professional. We don't need your opinion. Did I ask for it?' She later added: 'Don't show that f***** attitude. Get that in your 24-year-old skull and have respect for a business.'
Paige said she remained calm but felt intimidated. 'To be honest, it became quite scary. I didn't realise how much it upset me until I was home watching the video over,' she said. She ultimately paid the full price to escape the situation. 'It was just a way to get out. I was sick of arguing with this aggressive, abusive person,' she added.
The salon has been contacted for comment. Paige shared the video online, where it has drawn widespread criticism of the hairdresser's behaviour.
