Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she 'loves being a wife' after marrying producer Brad Falchuk in an intimate ceremony last weekend. The 46-year-old actress, who was previously married to Coldplay's Chris Martin from 2003 to 2014, spoke about her decision to remarry in an interview with Marie Claire.
Paltrow said: 'For a while, I thought, I don't know if I’d ever do it again. I have my kids – what’s the point? And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I’m very much the marrying kind. I love being a wife. I love making a home.'
She described marriage as 'a really beautiful, noble and worthwhile institution, pursuit and endeavour,' adding: 'Because I don’t think you get married and that’s it – I think it’s the beginning. You create this third entity, this third being that you have to nourish and look after.'
In the same interview, Paltrow credited ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt with protecting her from Harvey Weinstein when she was a relatively unknown actress. She alleges that Weinstein made a pass at her in his hotel room while she was in a relationship with Pitt, prompting the A-list actor to confront the producer.
'I am so grateful to Brad, because he leveraged his power and fame to protect me – when I was no one – and he scared Harvey,' she said. 'And if it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know if I’d have gotten fired, or what. But instead, Harvey was like, OK, let’s put it behind us. I think he wanted to keep Brad on side.'
Some 80 women, including prominent actresses, have accused Weinstein of misconduct ranging from rape to harassment. Weinstein has 'unequivocally denied' all allegations of non-consensual sex.
