Gracie Abrams Apologises to Dad J.J. Abrams for Stress

Gracie Abrams has publicly apologised to her father, renowned film producer J.J. Abrams, for the stress she caused him during her teenage years, stating she “took years off his life.” The 26-year-old singer made the confession during an interview with Capital FM’s Jordan North on the show A Very British Day Out.

Abrams Reflects on Her Teenage Behaviour

Abrams, who is set to release her new album Daughter From Hell on July 17, admitted that she did not make things easy for her parents, J.J. Abrams and television producer Katie McGrath. “At this stage in my life, I can only imagine if I had a child that was visibly in the middle of something halfway dark, I would’ve been kept up at night,” she said. “I just feel quite bad for the adults in my life. I feel like I took years off their lives and they confirmed that’s true.”

She then directly apologised to her parents, adding: “Sorry mum, sorry dad. I do consistently think about this, as you evolve and come into yourself more, I want to apologise for being kind of non-verbal in high school sometimes.”

Interview Highlights: Fish and Chips and Favourite Cities

During the interview, North, who admitted to being a troublemaker himself in his youth and was suspended for swearing at his maths teacher, took Abrams to Poppies Fish & Chips in Soho, central London. There, she enjoyed a traditional British meal complete with battered sausages, gravy, and mushy peas. Abrams was delighted, exclaiming: “This is already the best interview I’ve ever done. Let’s not talk about anything else.”

When asked about her favourite cities to perform in, she named her hometown Los Angeles, New York City, and Manchester, citing the latter's “unbelievable crowd.” She elaborated: “I’ve never spent time there outside of shows. I do feel the energy you get from a crowd is quite telling of a vibe of a city. They just go so hard.”

Abrams, who is currently in a relationship with Irish actor Paul Mescal, will embark on the Look At My Life tour to support her new album. The tour is scheduled to begin on December 2 in Denver, Colorado, and will conclude on May 28, 2027, in Barcelona, Spain, spanning multiple continents and dates.
