Deacon Phillippe, the 20-year-old son of actress Reese Witherspoon and actor Ryan Phillippe, has faced accusations of being a 'nepo baby' after giving a tour of his New York City apartment to TikToker Caleb Simpson. Simpson, known for approaching strangers and asking about their rent, featured Phillippe in a video posted on 14 November which has garnered over 400,000 views.
Phillippe, a student at New York University, resides in Manhattan's West Village. When asked about his rent, he evasively replied, 'West Village prices man.' The apartment boasts a two-floor layout with high ceilings, a spiral black staircase, and a stainless steel refrigerator. Despite the lavish features, Phillippe noted the bathroom door barely closes without striking the sink.
The video showcased three keyboards, which Phillippe described as his 'studio setup' for making music. He recently released his debut LP. Commenters criticised him for not mentioning his wealthy parents, with one writing, 'West Village prices is rich kid language for free.' Others defended him, noting he has roommates and that parental support is common among college students.
The Independent has contacted a representative for Witherspoon for comment.
