Gorka Marquez Marks Daughter Mia's Seventh Birthday with Sweet Tribute

Gorka Marquez shared a sweet message on social media as he marked his daughter Mia's latest milestone with partner Gemma Atkinson. The couple celebrated Mia's seventh birthday over the weekend, with Gorka posting a series of memories on Instagram.

Strictly Romance and Family Life

The couple met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, but romance did not blossom for Bury-born Gemma and Gorka until they took part in the Strictly Live tour. They went official with their relationship after the tour ended in early 2018. Over the last seven years, they have welcomed two children: Mia, born in July 2019, and Thiago, born in July 2023. Gorka proposed on Valentine's Day in 2021, and the couple have been engaged since.

Mia's Seventh Birthday Tribute

Taking to Instagram, Gorka shared a string of memories of their little girl and wrote: "Seven years already. I blinked and my baby is growing into this incredible little girl. Time is moving way too fast, and my heart feels both full and a little sad watching you grow up… but mostly, I’m so thankful I get to witness the beautiful person you’re becoming. Happy 7th birthday Mia, we love you so much." The post was quickly flooded with birthday wishes, many from Gorka's former Strictly co-stars, including Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Jowita Przystal, and Neil Jones.

No Marriage Plans

Gemma and Gorka recently opened up about their marriage plans on their podcast, Lost in Translation. Despite being together for nine years, they have no desire to get married. Gemma said: "I ain't getting married to him. No chance." Gorka replied: "I don't think I want to get married." Gemma continued: "Everyone I know who has got married has ended up getting divorced, apart from my sister." Gorka added: "We are fine like this, we have two children, marriage is just a document, for a legal thing. You see people together for 15, 20 years, they get married then divorced one year after." Gemma revealed she had once considered marriage for their children, but noted her mother's advice: "My mum was saying to me the other day, when it comes to my will, she was saying how much more complicated it is."
